Golem

Author/Illustrator David Wisniewski

This is a folk tale about a giant clay man named Golem, who became the guardian of the Jews. This story is from the year 1580 when a war broke out with the Jews and the Christians. When a chief Rabbi Loew uses a spell to make Golem to protect the Jews from the angry mobs, he wondered whether it would work or not and whether peace would be restored. I like how the story comes to life in front of your eyes. And for that matter, the illustrations make it even better. I recommend this book for third grade and up, it is a little violent towards the end. I think librarians should buy it.
